MASTERPEACE FOUNDERS COLLECTION: A LOVE LETTER TO LAFAYETTE
As we approach Lafayette's bicentennial in 2025, I wanted to create something that speaks to both our heritage and our future. The MASTERPEACE FOUNDERS COLLECTION (FNDR HDY) is my tribute to a city that's shaped not just my design aesthetic, but our entire creative community.
The Collection's Inspiration
Living in a college town, particularly one with Purdue's rich sports culture, you can't help but be influenced by that vintage collegiate energy. That's where my Lafayette “Bloat" logo was born - a design that captures that classic university feel while creating something uniquely ours. By incorporating "1825" into the design, I'm connecting our past to our present, marking 200 years of Lafayette's evolution and growth.
The Designs
The collection features two key pieces, each telling its own story:
The FNDR HDY (Founder Hoodie): A black hoodie featuring our World Peace globe on the chest, with the "State of Lafayette 1825" design on the back. The custom yellow tags on the sleeves are inspired by Fear of God's raised letters and early YEEZY GAP promotional materials - a nod to the brands that have influenced my design journey.
The FNDR TEE (Founder Tee): A royal blue t-shirt carrying our Lafayette Bloat collegiate logo on the front, with our circular "You Are A MASTERPEACE" emblem on the back. The color choice is intentional, bold and hopeful like our city's future.
The PEACE PIECE Concept
Alongside the collection, I've developed our World Peace logo system. The design philosophy here is simple: it doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be whole and complete. This plays into our "PEACE PIECE" wordplay - each item in the collection is both a piece of clothing and a piece of peace.
The Bigger Picture
This collection represents more than just clothing - it's a stake in the ground for the creative community in Lafayette. Each piece carries our core message: "Once you understand you are a MASTERPEACE, you can truly MASTER PEACE."
